This proposed project will allow approximately 300-600 megawatts of additional generation from Energy Resource Zone 1, interconnected at or near the Ault Substation. The proposed project consists of approximately 90 miles of new transmission, starting at Public Service Company of Colorado’s (PSCo) Ault Substation and ending at its Cherokee Station in Denver. A single 59-mile line will be built from Ault Substation to a location near the PSCo Ft. Lupton Substation. From this point, the existing 115-kV line from Ft. Lupton to Cherokee Station will be rebuilt so that one circuit continues to operate at 115-kV and serve Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association (Tri-State) load; the other circuit will operate as a 26-mile double circuit, 230-kV line, completing the circuit from Ault to Cherokee Station.
