The new Missile Site 230 kilovolt(kV) Switchyard near Deer Trail, Colorado was commissioned and declared in-service November 22, 2010. The Switchyard taps into the existing Pawnee-Daniels Park 230 kV transmission line. The project includes a new 345 kV substation expansion being constructed in parallel with the proposed Pawnee to Smoky Hill 345 kV transmission project. The Missile Site switching station will support generation from the Cedar Point Wind project, a 252 megawatt wind farm that is scheduled to come on line in late 2011. The 230 kV Missile Site facility will also provide a connection point for future high voltage transmission to the south.
